Saint Mary School, founded in 1888 by the Sisters of Charity, is the third oldest and fourth largest school in the Archdiocese. SMS is the only school in Waterbury with citywide busing and double classes of each grade. SMS proudly continues to provide an extraordinary Catholic education to children of various religious, ethnic, and economic backgrounds in a safe and nurturing environment by a talented and loving staff. The school is fully accredited by the NEASC.
